Back to the gourds

12.27.gourdsSometimes painting is not a simple day’s work. Sometimes you think you have some worthwhile imagery and try as you might, the painting just does not come together. Or it doesn’t come together easily and the artist spends time wondering when is the right time to pitch the canvas in the trash.

This has been a canvas that dragged out in an unfortunately not resolved way for too long. Yes one gourd is now rotting. I’ve returned to this canvas several times over  the year; not certain it has improved, but I’m ready to declare it done. Enough. It’s cooked. Baked. On to the cooling rack to take a look at it in a week.

And the start, in October 2012(!) Additional gourds had to be purchased since then.
