A Different Tack

Image

Two weekends ago, I ventured out with four pre-stained canvases – looking for local imagery. The plan – to give myself more painting time, I would draw out the composition on one day (actually drew out 4 canvases that day) and return to the site on a second day to complete the work. This achieves 2 things – time to assess the drawing and make corrections and leaves the entire second session to paint. So this group are works in progress. Below is the first painting completed with this approach. This view had a bit of urgency – a 5 story apartment building will block this view soon.
