A weekend with Ernesto

oil on carton, approx. 6×8 inches

It was a good weekend at Mass Art. Unique for me – rather than a whirl wind plein air event – capturing a moment in fleeting light in maybe 2 hour, I spent  nearly 2 days painting Ernesto (below) – what a luxury, time to correct and finesse. Very satisfying and I get to do it again next weekend. Late in the afternoon with 30 minutes remaining and feeling the first painting was well resolved, (possibly bordering on overworked) I grabbed a painting knife and roughed in the portrait sketch to the left.
