Working on values and mixing a neutral grey

The first night of still life painting (honey jar) was value night, also worked on it with my homework (shells). These painting exercises used ultramarine blue and raw umber plus white to mix a neutral grey. To be able to get the value correct really creates a successful painting, so easy to be seduced by the flash of color and miss the core.
