Class work October 29

CKclass.10.29While I’ve enjoyed painting on small canvases for this class, I find painting the figure at this scale particularly challenging.  Challenge is good. Between small canvas and large brush, I have to simplify. while the canvases have been small, the palette, the range of colors available to me has been extensive. I’m working hard at really good color matches, something never possible in the year of limited palettes. So here I have color that’s pretty much spot on, emphasizing the spot-lite model while the receding background is a bit murky, but I squished the model’s body to fit on the canvas – well, better work next time. This is oil paint on a 9×12 stretched canvas.
