Eddy at the piano – still a work in process

eddyatpianoinprogress

Still working on the darks – this canvas is 30×24, using a limited palette in order to assist me in focusing on the correct values. Some of the perspective is still off but tonight I’ll get the piano keys in and move this along a bit. Compositionally challenging to have that strong vertical – still much to do but it is mostly blocked in – the curtains to the right need to go darker – where have I heard that before and that doorway needs to go lighter. This was inspired by a Fairfield Porter painting of his son at the piano – with Adolph Menzel’s dark interiors.
