Sketches at poetry reading

By accident Giles Li Spoken word artistor maybe serendipity, I wandered into an auditorium at the Boston Chinatown Neighborhood Center where Giles Li was reading his poetry. Sketching this young (age is all relative?) man while his words wrapped around us was a very dynamic experience. His passion and insights informed his body language through the performance, similar and yet different than drawing musicians wich I’ve done sometimes. Forty-five minutes passed qickly, and all too soon the pen and journal returned to my bag and I fetched the boy from the swimming pool at this neighborhood center.
